Hildred Alexander

Hildred Josephine ("Jo") McWaters Alexander, 89, passed away on Friday afternoon, August 4, 2017. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles E. Alexander, as well as sisters Willodean Weeks, Macle Wright, Joy Limbaugh, and brother Mayford McWaters. She is survived by her daughter Wanda Alexander Banks (husband Timothy), granddaughters Allison Banks and Abigail Banks Brandenburg (husband Keith), and two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Evelyn, as well as one brother John McWaters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jo Alexander was a gifted artist, seamstress, quilter, and designer who, with husband Charles, crafted and rebuilt furniture and an assortment of home projects for the family. Her natural artistic talents were passed down through daughter Wanda to her granddaughters, both of whom have become professional artists. In their later years, Charles and Jo loved to travel, especially to Pigeon Forge and other scenic locations in the Smoky Mountains. A private family graveside service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home & Gardens in Trussville, AL, on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. Memorial gifts may be made to the Birmingham Humane Society.
