Herschel Watson

Hershel James Watson born on July 28, 1928 of Birmingham, AL passed away at the age of 83 on Monday, September 19, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jencie and Earnest Watson, three brothers, Ralph, Bill and JW Watson, three sisters, Francis Womack, Mae Martin and Ruth Sutton and his daughter Mickie Watson Ellis. He is survived by his daughter Nellie Watson Smith (Milton), his son Mike Watson (Becky), six grandchildren, Jason Smith, David Smith (Stephanie), Michael Smith, Chris Watson (Ashley), Reid Watson, Olivia Ellis, and one great-grandson, Tucker Michael Watson. Additionally, he is survived by three sisters Elizabeth Cobb, Debbie Vaughan (James), Betty Norris (Bobby) and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He retired from Cummins Diesel where he was a certified diesel mechanic and shop foreman. He was a devoted loving father and family man who enjoyed helping others whenever he could. The family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice for all their compassionate care and recognize his daily care-givers, Anne, Janice and Betty. A special thanks to Mr. Hertiline for being a wonderful friend and neighbor. Services will be held at Jefferson memorial East on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 with visitation beginning at 3:00 and services at 4:00pm. The Reverend Chris Chambers will be officiating.
