Herman L. Johnson of Birmingham, AL, 86 years old, passed away on March 22, 2016 after a brief illness. A native of St. Clair County, AL and was the son of Ernest and Lena Callahan Johnson. He most recently resided at The Veteran's Home, Pell City, AL where had had many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Norma Faye Lovvorn Johnson; daughter, Pamela Johnson Nelson; and brother, Roy Lee Johnson. Herman is survived by one beloved son, Kenneth W. Johnson (Sherry) of Trussville; grandchildren, Daryl W. Johnson (Christie) of Birmingham; Brandon F. Nelson (Katie) of Birmingham; and Daisy Johnson of Moody; seven great grandchildren; brother, Ted Johnson; sisters, Mildred Kendrick, Christine Scribner and Sandra Van Zandt. Herman was a former member of Fourth Avenue Baptist Church, Woodlawn and most recently a member of Lake Highland Baptist Church, East Lake, where he served as Worship Leader. Herman loved music and enjoyed sharing his voice and playing the guitar. He loved to play golf, fish and dance. Up until the last few years he played in the Annual Alabama Left-Hander's Golf Tournament. Visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2016, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM prior to the 10:00 am funeral service at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville, AL.
