Herman Evers Jr. age 80, went to be with his Creator, Saturday, November 19, surrounded by his family. He was born in Decatur, AL October 13, 1931 and had been married to his life-long partner Sandra Evers for over 36 years. He served 36 years in the military, he is a retired Birmingham Police Officer of 27 years, and is a retired Federal Court Security Officer of 25 years. Everyone who knew him can say this world is a better place because he was a part of it. Here on this earth, he loved life, he loved to laugh, but most importantly he loved his Heavenly Father. He was one of a kind and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His granddaughters were his pride and joy and they are going to miss their "Burdaddy" greatly. Herman was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Leeds. He is preceded in death by his wife Sandra Evers; father Herman Evers Sr.; mother Florence Evers; and sister Edna Carretti (Jimmy). He is survived by his daughter Natalie Evers Vernon (Josh); brother Bobby Evers (Joy); brother Larry Ingram (Sandy); 2 granddaughters Lexi and Layla Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews. A service to honor the special person he was will be held, Tuesday, November 22 at 12:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville with Brother Billy Abrams officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
