Helen Stanford

Helen Stanford, 94, of Trussville, AL passed from this earth and into the loving arms of her Savior on January 6, 2024.

She was born on May 30, 1929 in Pinson, AL to Willie and Alta Mae Fields.

After graduating from high school, Helen started her career as a phone operator and went on to work for South Central Bell for 30 years before her retirement.

Helen, or "Memaw" as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren and many others, was best known for her commitment to her family, generous spirit, elaborate cross-stitching, homemade potato salad, and Christmas Eve celebrations.

Helen is survived by her daughters- Julie Woodard (Barry) and Brenda Caldwell (Rick) and her grandchildren- Jeff Willhelm (Sherry), Chris Willhelm (Tiffanie), Marc Willhelm, Emily Masters (Bart), and Lauren Osterday (Mitchell), as well as a host of great and great-great grandchildren and step grandchildren.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband- Paul Stanford, her siblings- Willie Mae Kimbrough and Wilburn Fields, her step-daughter- Paula McAlpin, and her parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, AL and the service at 12:00 p.m. with graveside to follow.

Memorial donations can be made in Helen's name to Hope Community Church, formerly McElwain Baptist Church, where Helen was a member for most of her life.
