Helen Hensley

Hensley Helen B. Helen B Hensley, age 98, passed away November 8, 2019 in Fort Walton Beach, FL. She was born in Sardinia Ohio on March 13, 1921. She had a passion for teaching. She worked for many years at the Birmingham Public School System where she taught the second grade at Inglenook Elementary, then the first and second grades at Going Elementary. She was heavily involved with church activities at both Inglenook and Five Mile Presbyterian churches. She was preceded in death by her parents Ura and Della Brogden; sister Mary E. Brogden; brother Douglas E. Brogden; daughter Barbara L. Hensley, and her loving husband James V. Hensley, Jr. She is survived by her son James (Karen) V. Hensley, III of Fort Walton Beach, FL; grandchildren Alexander (Jessica) Hensley; Derrick (Chu Chai) Nix; and Mary Nix; and great grandchild Amelia Nix, along with numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16th at Five Mile Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, AL with visitation one hour prior to the service time. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville directing.
