Helen Brooks

Helen Brooks (83) of Birmingham passed away at home on December 13, 2019 after a short bout with cancer. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 17th at 2:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville with the Rev. Jon Wiggins officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert F. (Bob) Brooks, and her firstborn daughter, Bari West. She is survived by daughters; Bretta (Rusty) Spruell, Bonnie (Bill) Stephens, Bethany (Chris) Oliver and grandchildren; Will (Katie) Stephens, Noah Spruell, Audrey Stephens, Laura Stephens, Evan Oliver, Savannah Spruell, Foster Oliver and Lucy Oliver. She will be deeply missed by her family. Born in Ensley, Helen retired from the ANG Federal Credit Union in Birmingham. Helen was an avid gardener and truly a ray of sunshine on this earth. An eternal optimist, she was joyful, energetic and funny. She loved her Lord, her family and friends without reservation. Helen will be sorely missed this side of heaven. Our family is so very grateful to Michelle Reynolds, an angel sent from heaven, who helped us care for our precious Mother during this time. Pallbearers are Gary Brooks, Christopher, Evan and Foster Oliver, Rusty and Noah Spruell and Bill and Will Stephens.
