Harry Evans

Harry Bruce Evans, age 73 of Birmingham, AL, passed away Friday, March21, 2014. Bruce was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. He attended St. Joseph's Prep Seminary at Holy Trinity, Alabama and received his associate's degree through the Holy Trinity Mission Seminary and his BA degree from UAB. Bruce had a passion for sharing his faith. He was very dedicated to his work in the prison ministry. He never turned down the opportunity to help others. His grandchildren say he was great at telling jokes. Bruce enjoyed helping his children and grandchildren play sports. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, Rosemary Evans Dempsey, John Marston "Mot" Evans; brother, Joseph John "Jack" Evans; and daughter, Jenni Evans. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Thompson Evans; daughter, Julie Evans Cannova (Joseph); grandchildren, Ann Marie, Mary Catherine, Joseph Jr.; brothers, John Marston Evans Jr. (Lodema); Richard Patrick Evans (Mary), Thomas Dean Evans (Marie); sisters, Dorothy "Dottie" Evans Frament (Paul), Rosemary Rita "Rosy" Evans Fox (Rob); and many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM Tuesday, March 25 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM with Father Andy Kennedy officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in Bruce's memory to St. Francis Xavier School Endowment Fund.
