Gwendolyn Bee Haynes, age 88, of Trussville, Alabama, graduated to her heavenly home with a new, cancer free body, March 28, 2016. She was a devoted Christian mother, wife, and grandmother. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene S. Bee and Fanna Mae Kees Bee; husband, Mel Haynes; brother, Alon Bee, and sister, Gene Bee Reid. Survivors include son, Bob Haynes (Kathy); grandson, Josh Haynes (Adrienne). Gwen was known by many names: Bee, Aunt Bee, Momma Gwen, Granny, and Mother. She was a devoted Christian follower, having taught Sunday school since the age fourteen. Gwen was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Trussville and loved teaching the bible. She graduated from Woodlawn High School and briefly attended Howard (Samford) College. The death of her father pushed her to work for Bell Telephone Company, which lasted for thirty-seven years. She became very active in the Telephone Pioneers of America and their focus on Drug Abuse. Gwen was a devoted wife to her husband Mel for thirty-eight years, until his passing. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on April 2nd at Jefferson Memorial Chapel in Trussville, with visitation held one hour prior. Reverend James Long will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Trussville or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
