Grover Sims

Grover W Sims, Gunnery Sgt. USMC, 87 years old, retired from this world on December 16, 2015 and is with Jesus today. He served in WWII and the Korean War along with 13 years of service with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 907 He was an Alabama Highway Patrolman and Deputy Sheriff with Jefferson County. He was a true warrior, patriot, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. This man was a part of the Greatest Generation. Semper Fidelis. He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Sims; and sisters, Kate Wheeler, Sally Mae Vinson. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lela Williamson Sims; son, Grover "Bill" Sims; sister, Alice Hardy; grandchildren, Scott, April, Chris, Blake Sims, and Ashley Sims Day; great grandchildren, Ryan Sims, Aiden Day, Regan Sims,Olivia Tayler and Mary Brooke Sims. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 5-7pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at 2:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Chapel. Entombment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
