Glenna White

WHITE, GLENNA S., 88, went to be with her Lord on August 10, 2011. Mrs. White handed down a legacy of hard work, dedication to family, and caring for others. She was born in Blountsville to the late Claude and Rosalee Sherrer, and moved to Birmingham at an early age. Her first career was as a hospital dietician, which fit well with her love of cooking. Years later she went to college a second time to take the classes necessary to become a school teacher. In her free time she enjoyed reading and listening to gospel music. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Michael H. White. She leaves behind a sister, Ruth Veasey of Birmingham; a brother, Wayman Sherrer (Betty) of Oneonta; a son, Dan White (Corlis) of Hoover, a daughter Jo Ellen Temples (Arthur) of Trussville; grandchildren Kim Davis (Jeff), Tracy Zielke (Jeff), Ashley Foreman (Andrew), and Bradley White (Ashley); and great grandchildren Clay Zielke, Savannah Davis, Megan Zielke, and Ryan Davis. Mrs. White was a member of First Baptist Church of Birmingham and prior to that Ruhama Baptist Church in East Lake. Visitation at Jefferson Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 1591 Gadsden Highway US 11, Trussville, on Saturday, August 13 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM with service to follow immediately at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Birmingham, or to the Alabama Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, AL 35236-1767.
