Gertrude Parker

Gertrude "Elinor" Parker, born March 4, 1922, and raised in Hanceville, AL, went to meet her Lord peacefully on Thurs., Dec., 1, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Parker, sons, Larry and Rickey, grandson Chris Parker, and parents Edith and Bert McGlawn. She is survived by her son Charles, daughter, Joyce (Chuck), and her grandchildren Charly (Chris), Larry Jay Parker (Kim), and Tracy (Gary), seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Visitation will be 1-2 pm and service at 2:00 pm, Sun., 12/4 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Burial will follow. Dan Mattox and Jonathan Todd will preside. Special thanks to Shirley Lee, the caregiver and companion for Mom over the past 7 years. Her love and devotion to our family has meant so much to all of us. Debbie Elmore, also a caregiver, became part of Mother's life over a year ago. To the nurses of St. Vincent's Home Health and Hospice nurses, we appreciate the loving care all of you gave her.
