Geraldine Smith

Geraldine (Jerrie) Allred Smith, 91, of Birmingham, departed from us to be with her Savior on November 14, 2021. Jerrie was born and raised in Garden City, AL and graduated from Hanceville High School. She moved to Birmingham where she met and married Albert Smith, Jr. in 19551, her husband of 57 years until his death in 2008. Together with their children they attended as faithful members of Shades Valley Presbyterian Church, where Jerries played in the handbell choir for many years. We have fond family memories of summer weekends at Logan Martin Lake and annual vacations to the gulf beaches.
Jerrie is preceded in death by her husband Albert E. Smith, Jr., her parents James Lee and Willie Allred and her brother Albert Allred. She is survived by her brothers Larry (Barbara) and Allen (Pat) Allred, her sons Albert Smith III (Lynn) and Philip Smith (Caroline), her daughter Loree French, grandchildren Adam Smith, Christina (Nathan) Camp, Matthew, Frances and Sarah Smith, Brittany (Matt) Crawford, Lindsey (Daniel) Roberts, and Ryan (Jordan) French and 7 great-grandchildren.
We are thankful for the loving care provided for Jerrie at Briar Glen and Morningside Assisted Living and Aspire Nursing Facilities, Comfort Care Hospice and Perfecting Care Sitters. Visitation and Graveside services will be provided by Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville.
