George M. “Jack” Powell, age 88, of Powder Springs Georgie died peaceful at home on February 28, 2021 surrounded by his precious family.
Jack enjoyed the beach life and loved RV traveling with the love of his life, Bernice. Together they traveled all over the USA and cruised to many adventurous destinations. When not on the road or sea, Jack loved bowling and golf and ALABAMA FOOTBALL!!! Most of all, he loved spending time at home or on vacations with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were his pride and joy!
Jack is survived by his daughters, Vicki P. Hall and Karen P. Smith. He is also survived by his grandchildren Barry James Hall, Jr., Andrew R. Law and Kimberly L. Mikowski (Roger); great grandchildren Christina C. Standridge (Jared), McKenzie Law, Tanner Hall, Tyler Hall, Landon Clark, Dylan Clark, Avery Law, Gunner Law, Hollis Mikowski and Isla Mikowski; His niece Sharon Carson (Wit), several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Bernice W. Powell, granddaughter Jaime Hall; son-in-law, Billy E. Smith, Sr.; parents, William and Eula Powell, brothers John Powell (Guinelle), Bill Powell (Millie) and sisters Helen Windom (Ed) Norma Harvey (Ralph) and Mary Frances Wilson (LeRoy).
Funeral Services are being arranged by Jefferson Memorial Cemetery and Gardens, 1591 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, Alabama 35235. The visitation will be held from 1PM-2PM on Monday, March 8th at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2PM in the Chapel with burial immediately following at Jefferson Memorial’s adjoining cemetery.
