George Milton Carter, age 92, of Birmingham went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. He was born on October 19, 1920. Milton served his country in the Navy during WWII and Korean War. He was a Member of Lakewood Baptist Church where he enjoyed serving the Lord as an usher. He retired from Liberty National Insurance Company after 25 years of service. He was an avid Alabama fan, fisherman, and loved to play the piano. Milton was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Edith Cox Carter; his brother and half-sister. Survivors include his wife Clara Adamson Carter; her children, Dianne Walters (Tom) and Danny Adamson (Susan); four grandchildren and eight grandchildren; his daughters, Sheila Jacks of Vestavia and Marsha Hancock (Larry) of Trussville; grandchildren, Rodney Jacks (Angela), Kala Hancock Waldron (Vance); and six great grandchildren. Funeral service will be Friday, August 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Chapel in Trussville. His family will receive friends Friday from 1-2.
