George Ashworth

ASHWORTH, GEORGE GORDON, JR., age 66, Trussville, Alabama, passed away on November 25, 2009. He retired with 45 years of service with Bellsouth. He graduated from Minor High School in 1960. He served in the United States Navy as a torpedo man on the USS Croaker and USS Jallao. Visitation will be Friday, November 27, 2009 from 5 to 7PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Ashworth; daughter, Corrie Ashworth Merchant (Jason); son, Chris Ashworth (Desiree); grandchildren, Danielle Elizabeth Ashworth, Savanah Taylor Ashworth, and George Aldon Ashworth Merchant; brother, Lamar Ashworth. Preceded in death by parents: George and Noleka Ashworth. He was loved and respected as a committed husband, father and granddaddy. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and as a wonderful "teacher" to his family.
