Garth Dale Jensen, age 84 of Pinson, AL passed away on December 19, 2009 after sustaining a heart attack and a stroke. He was born in Fremont, Michigan. He was a member of Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church. Garth set good examples for his family. Although he was severely hearing impaired he never missed Sunday church services when able to attend. He was a member of the Appalachian Trail Conference for thirty years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Garth was employed at Trimm Contracting Company before starting his own business. After retirement, Garth enjoyed hiking the trail, landscaping, raising cattle, and being with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nelts and Estelle Jensen, brother, Ralph Jensen, and sisters, Pauline Van Orman and Marlen Eaton. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jensen; daughter, Susan Walker (Kenny); sons, Michael Garth Jensen and Garth Dale Jensen (Cathy); beloved sister, Eileen DeVires (John); sister-in-law, Shirley Jensen; grandchildren, David Lee Walker, Lindsay Walker, Christopher Jensen, Nicole Jensen, Catey Jensen, and Garth Dale Jensen, III; many devoted nieces and nephews who agreed Garth was their favorite uncle. Services will be on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 12PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Reverends Charles Mozley and Neal Culberson will be officiating the services. Pallbearers are Johnny Stewart, Ray Walker, Steve Parks, Bill Tillman, Hary Wilson, Jack Lowery.
