Ganus Caddell “Tom” Scarborough, Jr., of Trussville, AL, passed away June 4 at the age of 76. He loved and was beloved by his wife of 55 years Charlotte Scarborough; his sons Culley Scarborough (Missy) and Chris Scarborough (Kellie); grandson Austin Scarborough; granddaughter Lauren Scarborough; and brother Jerry Scarborough (Peggy). He was preceded in death by his father Ganus Scarborough, Sr., and mother Angela Fussell. Tom enjoyed the company of family and longtime friends as well as fellow parishioners of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Trussville, AL. Spending time as a youth in both Jacksonville, FL and Mount Olive, AL, he graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School, where he played baseball and basketball. He earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from Florida State University, where he met and married Charlotte, and received his EdD in Special Education from the University of Alabama in 1972. He taught for many years in the Education and Psychology programs at Jefferson State Junior College, Alabama State University and Miles College and also served as special education coordinator for the Birmingham City School System. In Tom, the Lord accepts a kind soul with a gentle sense of humor and passion in his beliefs, and his loved ones will miss him greatly. Services will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Trussville on Tuesday, June 5. Visitation will take place at 1 p.m. and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., with a reception to follow.
