Freida Alldredge Wright

Freida Alldredge Wright passed away on December 20, 2014, after a long illness. Freida was born in Blount County, Alabama, on January 1, 1930, and was the youngest child of Bennett Edgar Alldredge and Maude Snuggs Alldredge. After graduating from high school, she left her small town home to follow her Army officer husband around the country and world. She enjoyed country music, mystery novels, shopping at thrift stores and garage sales, trying new recipes, Alabama football, and being a devoted grandmother. Freida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles D. Wright, Jr., and siblings Bennett Edgar Alldredge Jr., Mary Alldredge, Tom Alldredge, Vernice Pullen, William Alldredge, Eugene Alldredge and Ruth Estes. She is survived by her children, Cathy Wright (Michael Hall), Rebecca Wright (Tom Dougherty), Charles D. Wright III (Shwu Hua Lin), and Lisa Borden (Raymond Giudice), her sister Joella Floyd, sister in law Faye Alldredge, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her companion of thirty six years, Walter E. (Tom) Thorne. Freida's family is grateful to the many people who helped care for Freida during her last illness, especially Tracy Conner, Rita Hayes and Barbara Sanders, who surrounded Freida with love. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, at 4:00 p.m., Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville. In lieu of flowers, Frieda's family asks that donations be made to M.D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
