Frank Garner, Sr

Frank Kenneth Garner, Sr., age 96, born in Geneva, Ill. On May 27, 1928 passed away on December 14, 2024. He lived in Chicago, Ill.; during The Great Depression, before moving to Birmingham, Al. He attended Shadyside Methodist Church in Ensley. He was a millwright at TCI at 16 years old. He was a WWII Veteran; joining the U.S. Navy 103rd Seabee Battalion at 17 years old. He served the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific, Guam, and Japan. He returned home to attend mechanic school in Memphis, Tenn. After graduation he returned to Birmingham, Al where he met and married Marion L. Harper. They had 3 sons: Frank Jr., David and Robert; and were married 58 years before she passed in 2007. Frank worked at Otis Elevator Co. for 37 years in 13 states; until he retired to work in real estate. After retirement he traveled the United States with his wife. He loved the Lord and his family.

He is proceeded in death by: Samuel Paul Garner (Father), Elsie Zachary (Mother), Sam Garner (Brother), Faye (Sister), Marion (Wife), and Robert (Son). He is survived by: Roy Zachary (Brother), Frank Jr. and David (Sons), Chris, Jeremy, Cole, Robert and Jon (Grandsons), Melissa, Jillian, Eden and Rebecca (Granddaughters), and many great-grandchildren.
