Frances Lemons

I lost the sweetest, strongest ally of my life this week, my Mother, Frances Virginia Maddox Lemons. My two children, Lisa and Scott, knew their Mimi loved them unconditionally, enjoyed them and lit up like a Christmas tree as she watched them grow and become adults. They were constantly in her thoughts and prayers.

Mother lived a full life in spite of numerous health issues throughout her long life. She loved her garden home and small yard and was forever adding this and changing that to achieve a comfortable warm, welcoming home.

She dearly loved her church family, her SS class, UMW and the close kinship she found in her congregation of 30.

She had a “posse” of card-playing ladies every Wednesday, laughing and cutting up over their misplayed cards. They were a tight and fun group.

I can’t leave out Alabama Crimson Tide football. Mimi’s home was the fall Saturday place to be for her and her football fanatics. Even as the group dwindled she would still watch the games by herself with her red and white shakers. If you called her on any football Saturday she would always answer with a big “Roll Tide.” If I called her during the half she would usually comment on a missed pass or field goal. She was all in!

Mother lived a rich rewarding life. The morning before she died she told me she had talked to Jesus and smiled. What else is there to say …grace has finished its work. God Bless you precious Mother… You made all the difference in our lives.
