Flossie Ann (McMunn) Gilmore, a resident of Decatur, AL, went home to the Lord on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Birmingham, AL with Pastor Bill Trawick officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to her service on Monday. Burial will immediately follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.
Mrs. Gilmore was a devoted child of God who was an amazing, caring and devoted Christian woman. She had a giant heart that was filled with love, compassion and generosity. Loved by all who met and knew her, she was known for her kind and giving spirit who was quick to make friends. She loved to cook and share her delicious meals with family and her multitude of friends. She kept an open-door policy allowing her friends to visit frequently—never turning anyone away. She was married for over 45 years to her husband Amos Gilmore, Sr. until he predeceased her in 2016. Prior to his death, they raised two devoted sons together and welcomed two precious grandchildren. Also included in her family were four stepsons and two stepdaughters and their families. Over the years, Mrs. Gilmore enjoyed raising her family, reading the word of God and spending time in prayer with her God and Savior, Gospel Music, arts and crafts, painting, helping others and spending time with family, friends and especially her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Amos, stepson: Robert Gilmore, and parents: Dewey and Drucilla McMunn; brothers: John McMunn and Stephen McMunn.
She is survived by her two sons: Amos Gilmore Jr. (Donna) and Bryant Gilmore; five grandchildren: DeLisa Gilmore, Brent Gilmore, Rachel Creasy (Les), Susie Golliver (Jay), Tyler McKinney (Kara); stepchildren: Michael Gilmore, Donald (Tracy) Gilmore, Sue Gilmore Bethune, Patty (Mark) Gilmore Tittle, and Joseph Gilmore; brothers: Benny (Jane) McMunn and Stanley McMunn, sisters-in-law: Betty McMunn and Janice McMunn England; cousin Jenell Tackett and many cherished extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Center of America, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or your favorite charity.
