Evelyn Faris

FARIS, MARY EVELYN DOWNEY Age 83, of Center Point, AL passed away April 28, 2012, from kidney failure following heart surgery. She was predeceased by her first husband, Reese Echols, her parents, Charlie and Floy Hayes Downey, and her sister Virginia Gunnin. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Harold Faris, daughter Rebecca Bednasek (Gary), son Dennis Faris (DeMara), grandchildren Jason Bednasek (Katherine), Rachel Bednasek, Caden Faris and brother, Jack Downey (Gail). She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Milton Gunnin and sister-in-law, Edith Brewster. Evelyn was born September 20, 1928. She graduated from Minor High School in 1947 and completed her education at Birmingham Business College. Evelyn began work with the City of Birmingham and retired from Social Security Administration in 1990. Evelyn was an active member of Hilldale Baptist Church for the last 39 yrs. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Tuesday, May 1, at Jefferson Memorial Trussville, with visitation from 12-1:45. in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation (for Research), Finance Dept, 30 East 33rd St, New York, NY 10016 or online www.kidney.org/donatenow.
