Gene Lovell passed away peacefully at his home in Clay, AL on Thursday November 12th around 12:00pm. Gene was diagnosed with bladder cancer in June of 2020. He spent his last days at home with his family. Gene was a husband, father, friend, coach, youth pastor, and various other titles to so many. He wasn’t able to talk much in his last week, but he did utter two profound sentences the day before he passed. He stated “The Lord is good to us. I haven’t seen more beautiful days than I have this past week.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 states, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” The Lord was speaking to Gene and showing him despite life’s mistakes and troubles, the Lord is able and willing to receive us as redeemed and forgiven. Praise the Lord and God bless Genny Boy and his life.
