Eugene Buckner

Eugene Stanley Buckner, age 87 of Birmingham, AL, died Wednesday, May 29th, 2013 after an extensive illness. He worked for Birmingham police and fire departments and served in the United States Navy for 10 years. Mr. Buckner is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Buckner; children, Alison Buckner of Birmingham, Deborah Oglesby of Birmingham, Bobby Cureton (Donna) of Birmingham, Fred Cureton (Debbie) of Clay; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great- great grandchild; sister, Margie Maynard of Starkville, MS; and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 11:00- 12:00 noon Saturday, June 1st at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. The service will begin at 12:00 in the funeral chapel followed by a graveside gathering at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East with Brother Leon Zalinski officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Gardendale First Baptist for their new children's center. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
