Rev. Ethridge David Horsley, 94, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, mentor and pastor to many, passed away June 13, 2013. He was born June 24th, 1918 in Cullman Alabama the son of Oscar David Horsley and Susie Brown. He was the 4th of 16 siblings and survived by sisters Brenda Scott and Mary Thomas. He is also survived by his wife of 72 years Willie Ruth Deloach Horsley, three sons Rick Horsley (Elaine), Bobby Horsley (Connie), Donald Horsley (Gloria), seven grand children, David Horsley, Bryan Horsley (Dianna), Angela Nix, Cassie Carter (Michael), Carrie Cunningham (Joe), Laurel Horton (D.J.), Lacy Smith (Luke) and 20 great grand children. Drafted into the Navy in 1944, he served as a radar man during WWII and honorably discharged in 1946. He attended Auburn University and St. Bernard College. After graduation from Howard College (Samford University) in 1957, he was ordained into the ministry on February 17, 1957 by request of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as pastor until 1959. He also served as pastor of Cleveland Baptist, Riverview Baptist, Rose Hill Baptist and retired at age 85 while serving as pastor at Lake Highland Baptist Church. He began his professional career as a draftsman at Stockham Valves and Fittings of Birmingham, AL in 1941 and returned after the war and retired as an engineer.He will be greatly missed by all of the lives he has touched. Generations were given a pure example of faith, love and selflessness through his actions and lessons. Warming cold hearts and saving lost souls was his passion.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville with services immediately following at 2 pm this Saturday, June 15, 2013. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to South Roebuck Baptist Church.
