Ethelynn LuRay "Blackie" N. Jones, age 89, of Birmingham, AL. passed away in her and her daughter's home on Thursday, July 12, 2012, to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, especially her family. In addition to being a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she worked for years as a bookkeeper and eventually retired from Brookwood Hospital in 1962. She had 2 lovely daughters, of whom she was so proud, Deborah and Mitzie with her 1st husband of 20 years, James O. Harrison, who worked for the Chattagnooga Railroad. After his death, she met and married Eugene H. Jones of the Associated Press and together they spent the next 34 years in Birmingham spoiling their grandchildren, until his passing in 2001. She was known for her sacrificial love, selfless service to her family and someone who was never afraid of hard work. She enjoyed cooking for her family, crafting, music and loved to 'cut a rug' to big band and country music. In her later years, she painted hundreds of intricate paintings that adorn her loved ones homes. Mrs. Jones is survived by her twin sister, Evelynn (Whitie) N. Bisplinghoff of Chattanooga, Tn., her two daughters, Deborah Heaton (Randy) of Birmingham, Mitzie Pogue, of Birmingham, her 3 grandchildren, Jason Heaton (Jami) of Birmingham, Jared Heaton (Cory) of Birmingham, Jessica Wyatt (Cliff) of Franklin, Tn., and her 5 great-grandchildren, Parker Wyatt (8), Kyndal Heaton (7), Kaylee Heaton (6), Hunter Wyatt (5), and Grayson Heaton (2). Funeral services will be Monday, July 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Jason Bowman directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
