Esther Thorn

Esther Lou Thorn, age 98, passed away July 27, 2016, with her family by her side at Fairhaven Nursing Home. Esther was born on September 30, 1917, in Jasper, Alabama. She is preceded by her husband, Paul Thorn; her parents, Joseph and Eula Howell; her brother, Onis Howell; and her sister, Nell OKelly. Esther graduated from Red Bay High School in May, 1935. She went on to school to become a beautician in Memphis, Tennessee. She worked in Birmingham as a beautician until she retired. She is survived by her two sons, Jerry P. Thorn and Ronnie H. Thorn. Jerry's family includes: wife, Barbara, and children, Jeff Thorn, Brian Thorn, and Andrea Thorn Click. Ronnie's family includes: wife, Bari, and daughter, Ashley Thorn Nix. Esther's great grandchildren include: Sydney Thorn, Aiden Click, Emmersyn Click, and Samuel Click. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on July 31, 2016. The memorial service will be on August 1, 2016, at 10:00 AM. Both will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 1591 Gadsden Highway, Trussville, Alabama. Graveside service will follow at Ridge Cemetery, Red Bay, Alabama, at the projected time of 3:00 PM.
