Emmet Key

Emmet Harold Key passed away early Saturday morning after several weeks battling pneumonia and complications brought on by age related illness. Born on July 20, 1926 he was 88 years of age. He will be buried beside his wife of over 34 years Tommie, who passed away several years before him. He is also preceded by his two brothers and one sister Norman, Clifton and Pauline. He was a WWII Navy Veteran that spent time on the Island of Saipan. He worked and retired from the L&N Railroad. He and his wife traveled and enjoyed life after their retirement. He leaves behind three children Deidre Arnold (Ricky), Liz Hursh (Jim), and Kevin Key along with four grandchildren Nathan Bush, Lydia Dennis (Timothy), TJ Hursh, and Crystal Ramsey (Randall). He is also remembered by several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Brother Ken Griffin will officiate his funeral service at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 2:00pm and burial will follow in the cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00pm. Instead of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association in his name. Jefferson Memorial Trussville will be directing.
