Emitt Orr

ORR, EMITT T. age 91, of Sherwood, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 13, 2011. He retired from the Birmingham Post Office. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He was a charter member of Second Avenue Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church for the past number of years. He was a native of Marion County and moved to Birmingham in 1959. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters; Velva Winifred Stidham Orr, his beloved wife of 69 years and his son, Eddie D. Orr. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Ann Gay (Dr. Jerry A.) of Sherwood, AR; sister, Rosie Walker Gober of Hodges, Al.; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Orr Spaulding of Clay, Al; sister-in-law, Janette Stidham of Trussville, Al; grandchildren, Jason and Jaret Orr both of Pinson, AL, Chad Gay of Powell, TN; and Jennifer Woitesek of Olive Branch, MS; 6 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Services will be Saturday, Dec.17, 2011 at 11:00 with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home followed by burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville
