Elsie Julia Morton, July 14, 1922-Dec. 30, 2013, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 30, 2013 at the age of 91 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born in Lead, South Dakota on July 14, 1922 and moved to Birmingham after her marriage in 1943. She was a long time member of Crestway Baptist Church. Mrs. Morton will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Morton in 1997; her parents, Oscar Nelson and Emma Arneson Nelson and brother, Arvid Nelson all of Nemo, South Dakota. Elsie Morton is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Kenneth) Yeager of Cullman, AL; her daughters, Kimberly (Jason) Morgan, her children, Collins, Davis, Audrey all of Dallas, TX; daughter, Katherine Yeager of Birmingham, AL; three sons, William (Anita) Morton, his children, Brian, Daniel, and Sarah all of Birmingham, AL; James (Jane) Morton, his children, William and Rachel all of Atlanta, GA; and Donald Morton; and special friend, Sandy Brasher and her son Garrett all of Birmingham, AL. Visitation will be held on January 2, 2014 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. A memorial service will follow at 12:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Wilson will be officiating.
