Judy Brown

Funeral Services for Mrs. Judy Brown, age 84 of Birmingham, will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Newland officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining gardens.

Judy Brown (Rylant) of Birmingham AL and Sylacauga AL, passed away on November 16th 2024, at her home, with her family by her side. She was 84 years old. Judy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was a friend to everyone she met and dedicated much of her time to visit those who were homebound or in nursing homes. Before her illness with Alzheimer’s, she he was very active in her church and in her community, always looking for ways she could help others and to share God’s love.

 She and her husband Jim were members at Lakeside Baptist Church for many years. 

Judy and Jim looked forward to attending the Gospel Quartet Convention every year.

Judy loved gardening with her husband and her two daughters, Donna and Rhonda. They looked forward to Spring every year so they could go plant shopping. Judy also loved watching the wild birds that came to their bird feeders, especially the hummingbirds. Judy loved being with her family and friends celebrating holidays and birthdays and traveling with her husband Jim. She also loved attending Do Dah Day each year with Jim to support the Birmingham Humane Society and Friends of Cats and Dogs. 

Judy also enjoyed a long career at Baptist Health Systems in Birmingham.

Judy is preceded in death by her father Alvin Rylant, her mother Evelyn Rylant and her brother Bill Rylant. She is survived by her husband, Jim Brown, of 65 years and her daughters Donna Little (Lee) and Rhonda Clements (John) and her grandchildren Austin and Lydia.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 11:30 A.M. until service time at 1:00 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home.
