Douglas Caples

Caples, Douglas Ferris of Crane Hill, Alabama, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, at the age of 76 after an extended illness. He was a very successful entrepreneur in the Birmingham area. He and his wife, Judith moved to Crane Hill on Smith Lake where they built their dream home in 1992 and enjoyed "lake living" for many years. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferris Edward Caples and Jessie Mae Caples and a sister, Vonda Steele of Ocala, Florida. He was survived by his wife of 49 years, Judith W. Caples and one daughter, Lisa Fortenberry (Danny) and two grandchildren, Daniel Jason Fortenberry and Caitlyn Elise Fortenberry and two sisters, Wonzel Richards and Dorothy Caples. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 5, at 2pm in the Chapel with visitation from 1:30 until 2pm. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
