Dorris Smithson

Dorris Dean Smithson went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jackson B. Smithson. Mrs. Smithson was a Charter member of North Clay Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher, serving in as a congregational care member of the church and she was a member of the Eastern Star where she formerly served as Grand Worthy Matron. Christmas was her favorite holiday, she loved football and enjoyed eating seafood. She retired from Stockham Valve and Fitting where she worked in the sales department. Survivors include two daughters, Gloria (Rev. C.R. Borders) Borders and Cyrena Smithson; one son, Jackson S. Smithson; one sister, Jean (Byron) McLendon; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; she leaves behind her pet dog "Tinker Bell". Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday at North Clay Baptist Church in Pinson with Pastor Tim Evans officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Jefferson Memorial East directing.
