Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and great aunt; she left her loving family on January 18, 2017 to be embraced by the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Those who preceded her are now rejoicing as she joins hands in their loving circle. Preceded by her mother, Willie Lee Easterwood McDaniel; father, Matthew Easterwood; her first husband, Louis A. Thomas; second husband, Roy Wilson; beloved sons, John C. and Wilton H. Thomas. Those of us left behind will always love and miss her. Survived by her daughter, Linda Cardwell (Gerald), of Springville, AL; son William Cordell Thomas (Betty), of Trussville, AL; brother, Matthew David Easterwood (Susie), of Smyrna, GA; grandsons: Steve Cardwell (Lucy), of Camden, NC; Craig Cardwell (Angie), of Moody, AL; Mark Cardwell (Shelley), of Clay, AL; Todd Thomas, of Trussville, AL; Timothy Thomas (Reane), of Branchville, AL; Adam Thomas (Victoria), of Trussville, AL; six grandsons; four great-great granddaughters; two nieces, two great nieces and two great nephews; a host of other family members, neighbors and special friends. Dorothy worked for Greg's Cookie Co., Dolly Madison Bakery, and Lumberjack Meats, before she married Roy and moved to Sylacauga, AL where she helped him run his Dairy Queen until they both retired, after Roy's death she moved back to Birmingham to be near family and friends. Dorothy was a member of Brewster Road Baptist Church. A funeral service for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 10:00 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Chapel in Trussville. The visitation will be on Friday, January 20th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral Home. Brother, Dane Davis is officiating over the service, with a special eulogy being given by her grandson, Mark Cardwell; Hymns to be song by Johnny Riley with pianist being Sandy Stenyell; Pallbearers: great grandsons, Justin and Nathan Cardwell, Andrew and Alex Thomas, and great-great grandsons, Tyler Cardwell and Eayn Thomas. Dorothy's request was in lieu of flowers please send donations in memory of her to Brewster Road Baptist Church. "Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free; I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call; I turned my back and left it all. Lift up your heart and share with me; God wanted me now, HE SET ME FREE"
