Dorothy Perry

Mrs. Dorothy Jean Perry, age 93, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022.

Dot was born on April 20, 1928 to Jeff William Jones and Edna Mae Yessick Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 55 years, Irvin Wayne Perry, Sr. and her sister, Edna Earle Brewer.

She is survived by her two sons, Irvin Wayne Perry, Jr. and Douglas Randall Perry (Janet) and her sister, Belva Lyon, nieces, Marcia Brewer Hollis (George), Susan Lyon Tucker (Ricky), Joan Lyon Gambril (Troy) and her nephew, John Lyon (Terri) and their families.

Dot was a member of Ruhama Baptist Church. She attended Business School prior to working for Engle Mortgage Company for 15 years and later for AmSouth/Regions Bank for 30 years until her retirement.

She enjoyed traveling with Edna Earl to Paris, France on several occasions and to Hawaii and other locations with friends. Staying at the Ritz Carlton in Atlanta just after Thanksgiving and shopping for the holidays was a fun getaway for Dot for many years.

Dot played bridge, was a great cook, enjoyed entertaining and going out to eat at her favorite restaurants. She was an animal lover and her family always had pets. In her latter years she greatly enjoyed the company of Miss Kitty. She was an honorary member of Shades Mountain Music Club.

Dot had a zest for life that uplifted everyone she met. She had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and she could remember them! She had two wonderful caregivers who made her life complete-Bettie and Elaine.

She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, Alabama followed by the service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
