Dorothy Minshew

Dorothy Mildred Hooks Minshew. She was a native of Gadsden, AL, was born on October 8, 1924 and passed away on December 22, 2012. She was a member of Deerfoot Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed a long career with Singer Sewing Co. and was an excellent salesperson and seamstress. Her sewing talent brought enjoyment and benefits to many. Until very recently she continued sharing her gift by sewing blankets for critical care babies. She had a kind and caring heart. She loved to laugh and make others laugh as well. She will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her husband, Haerel Decalve Minshew and her son, Thomas Jerome Minshew. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Moree (Gene) and Jennifer Cummings (Jim); grandchildren, Ashleigh Moree Hoffmann (Brian), Stacey Minshew Caten (Rusty), Daniel Logan Cummings, and Catherine Claire Cummings; sister, Jaunita Moore; 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 12:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jim Daniel will be officiating over the services. Pallbearers will be Jim Cummings, Daniel Cummings, Alex Langhans, John Cochran, Mickey Blevins, and Jerry Hooks. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Threads of Love Ministry at Deerfoot Baptist Church. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
