Dorothy Grogan

Dorothy Lou Ausbon "Dot" Grogan of Trussville, AL passed away on September 20, 2014. She was born on July 15, 1927 in Berry, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winford "Joe" Grogan, Sr., her parents, Henry and Mattie Ausbon, her in-laws, Virgil Oliver Grogan and Leo Jordan Grogan, and her sister, Hildred Carlson. She is survived by her sons, Joe Grogan, Jr. (Lana) and Bobby Grogan (Lynn). She was a loving MeMaw to Jennifer Grogan, Erin Keith (Bill), Andy and Bradley Grogan, Clint and Adam Landman and Jonathan Keith. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Grogan, as well as several nieces and nephews. Dot became a Christian as a youth and served the Lord in many capacities, including Sunday School, Women's Missionary Union and choir at Gate City Baptist Church, 66th Street Baptist Church and for the last 45 years at First Baptist, Trussville. Dot was a long-time employee of Exchange Security/First Alabama, now Regions Bank. She retired as manager of the Eastwood Branch in 1986. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 5 to 7PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Rev. Bobby Erwin will be officiating over the services. The family would like to give many thanks to the staff of Kirkwood by the River for their care over the past several months.
