Doris Plant

Doris Miller Plant, age 86, of Birmingham, AL passed away on March 21, 2012. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Birmingham and attended Holy Cross Episcopal in Trussville. She was a graduate of Birmingham Southern College and a member of Birmingham Southern Alumni Club, and a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, and had been active in numerous civic organizations including Thread of the Story Club and Minor Elementary P.T.A. Doris was one of the original Chemists at Southern Research. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Wayne F. Plant, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Dodie Taylor (Ed) of Lumberton, N.C., Nancy Plant-Kemp (Wayne) of Evergreen, CO., and Julie Barnard (Joe) of Trussville, AL; grandchildren, Duncan Taylor (Beth) and Scott Taylor both of North Carolina, Cora and Ryan Kemp of Colorado; great grandchild, Archer Taylor. Services will be held on Saturday March 24, 2012 at 2:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
