Donald Wright

Donald B. "Don" Wright, age 69 of Birmingham, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013 at his residence. Don was a wonderful husband, father, and friend to all. He taught the senior Sunday school class at COTC for many years. He was a Royal Ranger Commander at GFC and really enjoyed working with the young men and senior adults. One question that Don would always ask at mealtime was "What is for dessert?" Don worked at IBM for 32 years as a systems engineer, and later worked 11 years for the Birmingham City School system. He was a former member of Cathedral of the Cross and currently attended Gateway Family Church in Trussville. Mr. Wright was a 1st Lieutenant in the Alabama National Guard, and served as Post Commander in Guin, AL. He is survived by his loving spouse of 43 years, Sandra Wright of Birmingham; son, Erik Bryan Wright of Birmingham; brothers, David Michael Wright (Inga) of Birmingham and Riley Lynn Wright (Leha) of Pittsburgh, PA. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 12- 2 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gabriel Wright officiating. Burial will be in Forest Crest Cemetery, In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gateway Family Church, 101 South Chalkville Road, Trussville, AL 35173.
