Donald E. Parker was born February 9th, 1939 and passed away Tuesday June 6th, 2018 at age 79. Don was raised in Trussville, Alabama by his loving Mother Clara Quick and Stepfather Kent Skelton.
Don loved his family and friends, gardening and sports – all kinds, he was a natural athlete and enjoyed playing many sports through High School. He especially LOVED Alabama Football – Roll Tide!
Don joined the Air Force after High School and served his country with honor. After Don’s tour of duty he worked hard to support his family working for UPS as a truck drive, after retiring from UPS he worked as a School Bus Driver for 10 years and then he finished his career working for his son Ricky E. Parker at his company PBM, Inc. Don was proud to say that he worked for and retired from 3 careers.
Don was known for his humor, he loved meeting people, loved to dance, play arcade games and he loved a good flea market find. Don was also known for his willingness to help his friends and neighbors and was a great handyman and loved to help those in need.
Don is survived by his Son Ricky E. Parker and wife Terry Southern Parker, Stepson Billy Roberts and his wife Shari, Grandson’s Kaleb Parker and Tyler Parker, Granddaughter Bailey Brown, son in Law Landon Brown, Great Granddaughter Stevie Brown and Daughter-in-Law Sherrie Miller. Don is also survived by many loving special friends including Doris Sims and Terry Boshart. Don was proceeded in death by his son Blake Parker and wife Martha Parker who he is now rejoicing being with in heaven again.
The family wished to extend their deepest gratitude for the wonderful staff and family at Brookdale Assisted Living in Miramar Beach, FL.
The funeral service will be Monday June 11th, 2018 at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville, AL. The family will receive visitors from 1-2 pm with the memorial service to follow at 2 pm.
