Don Mark Crawford, 62, passed away unexpectedly in his home in Leeds, AL on Monday, February 10, 2020. Don was born on September 21, 1957 at the former Donaldson Air Force Base in Greenville, SC to Lewis and Irene Crawford. Don graduated from Huffman High School. He began a thirty-three year career at Rust Engineering in 1982. He was certified as an engineer during his time there. He was maintained as a loyal employee through several company buyouts, receiving several awards for his service, then retired in 2014 after completing the munitions decommissioning program held at the Anniston Army Depot. Don is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Bethanne Crawford, daughter, Alison Crawford, daughter and son-in-law Dara and Justin Lewis, with step-grandchildren, Lillian and Riker Lewis, son Chase Crawford, sister, Carolyn Kay Davis, brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Katherine Crawford, as well as several other brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Don loved spending time with his family. He loved grilling on the back deck he designed and built himself. He was an avid Alabama Football fan. He loved playing video games. He was a brilliant researcher of history, especially of his family’s lineage. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Don’s life at Jefferson Memorial Funeral home and Gardens, 1591 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, on Sunday, February 16, 2020, with visitation at 1:00 PM, and a service at 2:00 PM.
