Diane M. Craft

Diane M. Craft, peacefully passed away on October 10, 2023, at the age of 86.

Born on September 2, 1937, in Birmingham, Alabama, Diane was the daughter of the late Claude and Mina Maddux. She grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Ensley High School in 1955. 

 Diane embarked on a fulfilling career as an administrator for Social Security where she worked for many years. She was known for her exceptional organizational skills and commitment to providing excellent service to countless individuals.

Beyond her professional life, Diane cultivated a wide range of interests and hobbies that brought joy to her days. A passionate reader, she often found solace in the pages of a good book. Diane's love for baking led to countless gatherings filled with delicious treats that were enjoyed by family and friends alike. Her green thumb was evident in the beautiful gardens she meticulously tended over the years. Additionally, Diane's talent in cross stitching and ceramics allowed her creativity to shine through in beautiful works of art.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents; Claude and Mina Maddux; loving husband of 50 plus years Maurice E. Craft; step-daughters, Yvonne (Trudy) Smith, Karen Maurice Craft. She is survived by her children; Robyn Chapman (Allen), Rex Rothe, David Rothe (Sandra);brother, Tim Maddux (Barbara); grandchildren, Laura, Aaron, Karsten, Chris, Peyton, Ryan, Brittany, Kristi, and David; and numerous great- grandchildren.

To honor Diane's memory and celebrate her remarkable life, visitation services will be held on Saturday, October 14th at Jefferson Memorial in Birmingham. The visitation will take place from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm at the same location. Jefferson Memorial is located at 1591 Gadsden Highway, Birmingham, AL 35235.

Diane M. Craft will forever remain in our hearts as a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and cherished friend. Her warm smile, strong spirit, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who had the privilege of sharing in her life's journey.
