Diana Jacobson

Diana Jacobson, 79, of Birmingham, Ala. passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016. She was born in Mobile and graduated from Bishop Toolen (now McGill-Toolen) High School. In 1956, she married James E. Jacobson, also of Mobile. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year on Dec. 22. They moved to Birmingham in 1959 when Jim began working at The Birmingham News. Diana was a longtime member of St. Barnabas and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic churches, and an active volunteer at St. Barnabas School, where their children attended. She loved her life's work as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Susan and Alphonse J. Tremer, and three brothers: Alphonse J. Tremer Jr., George A. Tremer, and James A. Tremer. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Jacobson; her son, James E. Jacobson Jr. (Laura); her daughter, Jennifer Jo Jacobson (Joey Richey); her son, Jay A. Jacobson (Jennifer); and her daughter, Jayna P. Lamar. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Leigh Jacobson, John Jacobson (Miho), Sarah Jacobson Schaefers (Andrew), William Jacobson, Hannah Partain Campbell (Elijah), Jackson Lamar and Franklin Lamar; and great-grandchildren Jennifer T. Jacobson, Addison Schaefers and Sebastian Jacobson. Diana's family offers heartfelt thanks to her compassionate caregivers at Greenbriar at the Altamont and from New Beacon Hospice. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, Aug. 7, from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary to follow at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities (P.O.
