Dessa Wilson Gilbreath, born in Winston County and of Springville AL passed away peacefully on August 17 at her home with her two daughters at her side, Jane Jones of Trussville and Nancy Watson (Charles Lee) of Vestavia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tarrie H. Gilbreath Jr., her parents, Jabe and Ida Wilson, her sisters, Belle McKeever (Ernest) and Daisy Malone (Lloyd); her brothers, Odie and Aubrey Wilson. She is survived by her grandchildren Margie Jones Colburn, Patrick Jones (Amy), Andy Watson (Laura Ann) and Jake Watson (Karla); great grandchildren Dessa and Lilli Colburn, Hannah and Maddie Jones and Andrew Watson. Also surviving are her sister, Jean Steadman, her brother, Kermit Wilson, sisters in law Molly Wilson and Florence Gilbreath Hyche and many nieces and nephews. She taught school for 20 years at several different locations in the eastern Birmingham area. Her love for teaching was matched by her love of her church, East Lake Methodist, where she was a very active member of the choir, altar guild and United Methodist Women. We would like to give our love and thankfulness to her sitters, Mary Wood, Rhonda Whitfield and Heather Newell as well as to the hospice nurses who so lovingly cared for her. There will be a visitation from 10:00 i�½" 11:00 and parlor service at Jefferson Memorial on August 20 at 11:00AM followed by a private burial at Walker Memorial Gardens in Jasper AL.
