Della Green

Mrs. Della Mae O'Donnell Green of Birmingham, AL passed away on Sunday November 6, 2016. She was the youngest daughter of seven children born to the late Michael J. O'Donnell and Frances Ellsworth O'Donnell. She was born on August 17, 1922. Predeceasing her was her husband Ronald L. Green Sr. and survived by her five children Ronald L. Green Jr., Bruce L. Green, Jane Marie Atkinson, Mary Elizabeth Dunion, and Linda Lee Brent. Also surviving her are her five grandchildren Randall Green, Matthew Green, Jaimie Dunion Jones, Joseph Dunion, and Michael Brent. She has four great grandchildren with a fifth due in the spring of 2017. Della was born in Mellette, South Dakota and graduated from teachers college in Rochester, Minnesota. She met her future husband Ronald during WWII while he was in glider pilot training in Minnesota and she was teaching in a rural one-room school. They were married on April 1, 1943. She was a homemaker and loving mother to her five children. Her marriage to her husband of 66 years took her around the world with one child, Jane Marie, being born in Tachikawa, Japan. Funeral services and burial will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, AL. at 2:00pm, Thursday, November 10, 2016. A visitation will be held before the service from 1:00 -2:00pm.
