David Mcleod

d. March 31, 2011

David Carlisle McLeod, Jr.was born on July 8, 1919 in Florala, Alabama. He was married to Dorothy Lamb, from Sherman, Texas, for over 54 years, who is deceased. David left this world to be reunited with "his best girl" Dorothy, on March 31, 2011. David McLeod's parents were Katherine Lee Wynn and David Carlisle McLeod, Sr, brothers William Wynn McLeod and Graham McLean McLeod, all of whom are deceased. He is survived by his nephew, William Carlisle "Bill" McLeod and his wife Cathryn Alford McLeod, their sons Will David and Brian Scott; his niece, Elaine McLeod Autrey and her husband Ken Autrey, their daughters Tracy Lynn Autrey Josefovsky, husband Ryan and daughter Leah Shay; Kelly Lee Autrey Townsend and her husband Austin Townsend. Along with his brothers, David was extremely proud of his McLeod heritage. He made many an enjoyable trip to spend time with his kinfolk in South Carolina as well as other parts of the country. Family always mattered to him. The wearing of his favorite McLeod tie was his trademark to any function. He served his country proudly during World War II as a Master Sergeant in the Army, stationed in Africa as well as Italy. A few years after his return, he began a long career with Birmingham Trust, later Southtrust. For many of those years, he managed a department, earning the respect of countless others due to his listening skills, fairness and honesty. The foundation of his management philosophy was the employees worked with him, not "for him." David and his wife were members of 76Th Street Presbyterian Church for many years, currently known as Eastminster Presbyterian. As things change in life, David became an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. He gave unselfishly his time, energy and charity for the benefit of many others over the years. His efforts touched countless individuals and organizations during his lifetime. As a cheerful giver, he served the Lord with his heart and soul. David will be buried on Monday, April 5, 2011 at a grave side service at the Jefferson Memorial Cemetery at 3:15p.m. Visitation will be from 5-7p.m. on Sunday, April 4, 2011 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. To all those many individuals who touched and/or cared for David over the years, the entire McLeod family would like to extend a warm thank you for your kindness and fellowship. Like you, we will miss him. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
