David "Pop" Blackerby

February 26, 1931 — February 24, 2025

Graveside Services for Mr. David "Pop" Blackerby, age 93 of Pell City, will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Pastor Pat Worsham officiating.

Surrounded by his loving family, David “Pop” Blackerby, 2 days from turning 94, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 24, 2025. He was a devoted Father, Husband, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and a great friend. David has been a devoted Christian since a young age. David was a self-made man, owning several successful businesses until retirement to the lake. There he got to focus on his favorite things: fishing, family, working in the yard or sitting in the sun, on the porch admiring the views. David met his wife, Sue (Nonna), who he loved so much and was happily married for over 70 years, before she passed away in 2023. He was always ready to lend a hand to his friends, neighbors and family. He’s always told us stories about how fulfilled his life was, he did accomplish everything he ever wanted. In his own word’s “Remember all the good times”. David was a proud member of the United States Navy and honorably served from 1951 to 1955 and was also a member of the Eagle Scouts.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol Blackerby, his son, Derek Blackerby (Jessica), his grandchildren, Macie and Micah Blackerby and Dale Herren (Hannah), his great-grandson, John Herren, his sister, Fay Lawhon and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Sue Blackerby and his parents, David Blackerby, Sr. and Fay Blackerby.

Derek Blackerby, Dale Herren, Jay Womack, family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
