Cynthia Ann Sellers Sims, 69, of Moody, Al. passed away at her home Sunday, February 28, 2016 with her family by her side. Marvin and Jewell Sellers welcomed her as their first child born on April 18, 1946. Cynthia was predeceased by her parents and great-grandson. She is survived by her beloved husband, Rick, and her loving children Danna Altarkawi, Tanya Talley (Bradley), Brian Sims, and Jonathan Sims (Katie); brothers, Larry Sellers (Audrey), Rick Sellers and sister, Terri Stronge and many nieces, nephews and cousins. "Gram" will be missed by her grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob and Hannah Altarkawi, Christina Walter (David) and Sarah Shaw (Matt); her great grandchildren, Theo and Bennett Sims and Annalee Walter. Molly, her pet dog, will also miss her best friend. Cynthia was the happiest when she had her family surrounding her. Cynthia was a faithful member of Trinity Worship Center in Moody, Al. where she served her Savior and Lord. She attended Leeds Elementary and Leeds High School. She retired from Jefferson County Schools as assistant to the bus driver for the Special Needs bus. Cynthia and Rick had celebrated 52 years of marriage on January 5, 2016. During those many years, she was a devoted and faithful wife to Rick as he served his country in the USMC. They traveled all over the world making friends and raising their children. She had many stories of those happy years that she loved to share. Cynthia was a shining light whenever she walked into a room. Her smile and laughter would always brighten the lives of those around her. It has been said "a person's life is judged by how long they live after they die." Cynthia will live forever in the hearts of those who loved her. We will miss her but know that one day we will all be together again. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1, from 5pm until 7pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. The celebration of Cynthia's life will be at 10am on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, Al. Burial to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. As per Cynthia's request her granddaughters, Christina and Sarah, will sing accompanied by her grandson, Jonathan. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
