On Christmas Eve 2021, Culleen Glover passed away peacefully to be with Jesus, the Heavenly Host, and all the many friends and family that have already gone to their reward. She was the valedictorian of both her West End High School Class and Samford University. Her dream to teach and minister to children was realized through 32 years of teaching. The majority of this lasting legacy was at Curry Middle School in Birmingham, Al teaching kindergarten. She also had multiple master’s degrees from UAB and 6 hours from The University of Alabama.
As a child she began her discipleship for Jesus teaching Sunday school and continued to do so for most of her life. In addition she had a cassette tape, phone, mail, and email ministry. Through her various Sunday school classes and on her own she helped to feed, clothe, and minister to those in need. She was an intercessor for any who called on her to do so. Often she would visit or sit and read to ill friends. She loved the Lord and loved studying the word. Her faith was a beacon to all those around her.
To those who knew Culleen the first thing they will remember is her beautiful smile. She made a point to get to know everyone from the young man who bagged her groceries to the service tech who came once a year to check the furnace. No one was a stranger and everyone was a friend.
She loved watching sports and loved the Crimson Tide. Her son Kenny’s dogs Kink and Bell were like her grandchildren and she treated them as such. One of her greatest joys was to sit among the many flowers and plants on her front porch and bird watch. Often at night she would want to see the moon, stars or planets that were visible.
As a mother and professional she worked tirelessly to provide everything for her family. No task was too hard or went undone. She kept a perfect house and was a wonderful cook. No one will ever be able to make the wonderful scrambled eggs she whipped up at a moment’s notice.
She loved the Lord, family, friends, her dogs, and life. She will be missed and has left ripples in the pond that will extend forever.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy Glover Galloway, son Kenny Glover, son Jimmy Ray Glover Jr., brother Larry Meredith and wife Kay Meredith, brother Chester Meredith, brother Casey Meredith, sister-in-law Joyce Kastner and husband Jim Kastner, grandson Buddy Galloway, grandson Ben Glover, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
